Nippersink Students in cooperation with the Knight Crew have organized a fund raising effort to support areas affected by recent hurricanes. Each encore class will be collecting donations, with the top winning encore class receiving a pizza party. Additionally, each day this week will have a theme. The theme days are: Monday: Hat Day. For $1 students can wear a hat throughout the day. Tuesday: Hawaiian Day. Wednesday: PJ Day. Thursday: Look Like a Teacher Day. Friday" Blackout Day.

SUBJECT: Notification of Asbestos Related Renovation Activities Nippersink Middle School Floor Tile Removal for Rooms 102-210
In accordance with the requirements of federal and state regulations, the school must notify appropriate Parent Teacher Organizations, parents, and school employees prior to commencement of renovation activities, which require the removal or disturbance of asbestos- containing materials. As part of the floor tile removal project at the Nippersink Middle School Rooms 102-210, some asbestos-containing materials will be removed during the renovation June 27 – July 12, 2017.
All work activities will be performed by an Illinois Department of Public Health licensed asbestos abatement contractor. To ensure that work activities are performed in strict accordance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, we have retained the services of a professional environmental services firm to manage the performance of the project. Work activities will be performed in strict accordance with applicable regulations, utilizing state of the art work practices and engineering controls. Access to the work area will be restricted for the duration of the project. Air monitoring will be performed on a daily basis, and at the conclusion of the project to ensure that air quality standards have been met and maintained.
We appreciate your cooperation, and apologize for any inconvenience these renovation activities may cause you. If you should have any questions regarding this project, I will be available to answer any questions that you may have.

The NMS PTO is sponsoring our 2nd Annual Knight Color Run. This fun event is open to all students, parents, staff, and friends of NMS. The Color Run will be held on Saturday, May 6 starting and ending at NMS. Check-In time is 7 AM and Race Time is 8 AM.

Revtrak Upgrade
Last week there was an upgrade to our Revtrak system. The procedures are the same but there is a new look . If you experience any problems feel free to call Kathy at 815 678-6898.
On Friday, February 10, the NMS Knight Crew will be sponsoring the second dance of the school year. The Valentine's Dance will be held from 6:30-8:30 PM. The cost of the dance is $5, payable at the door. Concessions such as pizza, pop, and candy will be available for sale.
Reminders to students and parents about all dances:
The school dress code, as do all school expectations, apply at dances.
The doors will open at 6:30 PM, regardless of weather. The dance ends at 8:30 PM. Please plan accordingly so that students do not have to wait for a ride. Following the dance, sixth and seventh grade students are to be picked up in the front of the school and eighth grade students are to be picked up in the back of the school. Families picking up students in multiple grade levels should follow the guidelines for the oldest student. Please, Please be careful of students walking in the drive way and parking lot.
Please join the NMS Music Dept. for their annual Spaghetti Dinner. The event will take place on February 8, 2017 from 5:15 - 7:00 PM. Music will be provided by the band and choir.
